Watch lovers and enthusiasts, mark your calendars this October: Singapore will host a horological showcase you won’t want to miss. Following a successful run this May at Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District, Rolex will be bringing the Time Zone to Time Zone exhibition to Singapore, this time in partnership with Cortina Watch. Dedicated to one of Rolex’s most emblematic creations – the Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master, this engaging experience celebrates the model’s 70th anniversary. The event will run from 24 October to 2 November 2025 at Paragon.

Celebrating an Icon of Travel
Launched in 1955, the Rolex GMT-Master was originally created for pilots and travellers navigating multiple time zones. Its signature two-colour bezel and additional 24-hour hand allowed wearers to read the home and local time simultaneously, making it the official watch of Pan Am during the golden age of air travel. In 1982, Rolex introduced the GMT-Master II with an independently adjustable hour hand. Today, with ceramic bezels, robust cases, and the calibre 3285 movement, it stands as a widely recognised benchmark among cosmopolitan tool watches.

This year, the emblematic Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master celebrates its 70th anniversary

The exhibition will shine a spotlight on this legacy. Visitors will be able to trace the watch’s journey through a series of thematic panels, with highlights including milestones in the evolution of the GMT-Master into the GMT-Master II. Expect to see not only the historic breakthroughs that shaped the model but also the current catalogue of GMT-Master II references, each reflecting Rolex’s constant pursuit of performance and reliability.

The first generation GMT-Master circa 1955. This blue-and-red bezel variation is finely known among watch enthusiasts as the 'Pepsi"

Among GMT-Master fans, the watch has affectionately earned some colourful nicknames over the years: the Pepsi (blue and red bezel), the Coke (red and black), the Root Beer (brown and gold), and more. These fun monikers highlight the special place this icon occupies – not only in the world of watchmaking, but also in popular culture. Few contemporary timepieces have left a mark so deeply woven into cultural memory. This exhibition offers the perfect chance to explore that legacy up close.

Stories from the Skies and Beyond
Beyond the watches themselves, Time Zone to Time Zone offers a glimpse into the people who wore them. From pioneering aviators and explorers to contemporary personalities who embody its spirit today, the GMT-Master has accompanied many remarkable figures across the decades. A specially produced documentary film rounds out the experience, weaving together these stories of adventure and precision.

You’ll learn how a tool created for cockpit practicality became a true cultural icon – and why its enduring design continues to capture imaginations today.
