New: Frederique Constant Classics Moneta Moonphase
Quietly, Frederique Constant redefines the classic.
Since 1988, Frederique Constant has been making some of the best-kept secrets of the world of horology in the Swiss Alps. Since the early 2000s, they have been manufacturing their own movements, including the impressive grand complications, such as the tourbillon, perpetual calendar and worldtimer. To top it all off, they also utilised the latest material technology in their components, competing and measuring up to the much bigger and famous brands in the watch industry.
For a young watch company, Frederique Constant has taken the classic aesthetics route for their watches, when they could have gone to town with modern and outrageous designs. It is a good thing that they have chosen the classic style; otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to enjoy their fantastic array of classic watches, from simple three-hand to the grand complications, without breaking the bank.
Last year, they unveiled the Classics Moneta Moonphase, a watch that is just breath-takingly beautiful, inspired by the fluting of the edge of a coin, hence the moniker ‘Moneta”. Its aesthetics adhered closely to the DNA of the company, superbly classic and sophisticated, with clever design twists which help to enhance the look with a touch of modernity. It has a refreshing aesthetic to see a brush-polish step bezel frame a fluted flange, a design usually seen on the bezel rather than an inner bezel. It then frames a sunburst dial decorated with faceted applique diamond hour indexes, and faceted dauphine hours and minutes hands. An elegant moonphase rendition sits in a gold ring sub-dial at six o’clock.
This September, Frederique Constant introduced two more variants to the Classic Moneta Moonphase, the sunburst midnight blue comes with the rhodium-plated hour indexes and hours and minutes hands for the stainless-steel version. The PVD-coated yellow gold version comes with a silver sunburst dial with gold-plated hour indexes and hours and minutes hands. The elegant moonphase sits in a gold ring sub-dial at six. The elegant and suave watch is housed in a 37mm case and they a Milanese stainless steel bracelet and a croc embossed dark brown calf leather.
The two variants epitomise the sophisticated look for the day or night, or night and day, either way, the versatility is perfect for any time of the day, and any occasion you need it to be.
