LVMH Watch Week 2025: Zenith refining and rejuvenating the icons
The ever-evolving icons from Zenith have reinvented themselves.
The recent LVMH Watch Week 2025 was originally to be held in New York, but due to the unstoppable fire that broke out in California. But the show must go on, and it was held in Paris instead. Zenith, one of the premier brands under the LVMH Group unveiled three novelties belonging to two collections. They carry on with the family tradition of wowing their audience and fans with their effervescent presence and technical know-how.
Zenith Chronomaster Sport Rainbow
Not only is the Chronomaster one of the most iconic members of the Zenith family but it is also the most recognisable timepiece in the family of advanced sports watches. It first came on the scene in 1969 and has been through some aesthetic changes and tweaks to enhance its relevancy today, including employing technically advanced material to prolong its longevity and improve its precision.
The latest edition is one not for the faint-hearted, it is one for those with a personality to match its bold and daring spirit. The most outstanding feature in this new rendition is the 10 different shades of sapphire set around a white gold bezel, with a clear stone separating them in between. The black-lacquered dial added that touch of luxury is accented with three different colour sub-dials - the blue houses the chrono seconds counter at three o’clock, the dark grey houses the minutes counter, and the continuous seconds finds home at nine o’clock. The iconic jewel of the El Primero movement’s function is the 1/10th of a second chronograph counter centrally located. The hours indices are set with rainbow sapphires. The powerhouse that keeps the precision movement is the automatic calibre El Primero 3600 with column wheel construction, it emits 36,000 Vph and comes with 60 hours of power reserve.
They are encased in a handsome 41mm matte-polished white gold case and come with a matching matte-polished white gold triple-link bracelet with a polished centre link. Therefore, making it one elegant and luxurious sports watch perfect for those fun weekends and cocktail evenings.
DEFY SKYLINE Chronograph Skeleton
The Defy collection was first seen in the ‘60s showcasing the Maison’s acumen in their technical brilliance something they still do today. Defy reappeared almost a decade ago and recaptured the fans’ and enthusiasts’ imaginations. Only this time around with upgraded touches that redefine the collection’s newly acquired spirit with the new aesthetics, making it a new icon in its own right.
A ten-sided tonneau 42mm vertical brushed stainless-steel case plays host to a dodecagonal vertical brushed bezel with a round dial. The centre dial is skeletonised with 12 sides with a strong emphasis on the four-pointed star of Zenith and complements the bezel revealing the bridges, a choice of two in black or blue tone. It is decorated with three sub-ring dials with steel grey tone, a chrono seconds counter at three o’clock, a chrono minutes counter at six o’clock and continuous seconds at nine o’clock, with all indicators coated with luminescent. The star is the Chrono 1/10 of a second seconds hand coated in luminescent with a red tip is centrally located and whizzes around the dial animatedly, sharing the same real estate with the luminescent skeleton hours and minutes hands. The five-point skeleton star rotor corresponds with the dial colours and completes the entire movement.
The heart of the watch is the automatic calibre El Primero 3600SK. The difference between this and the conventional 3600 lies in deploying the silicon escape wheel and lever, which resulted in a much longer servicing interval and much less wear and tear. Hence, it is more durable than its plainer sibling, calibre 3600. It comes with a 60-hour power reserve. And nothing but the best for the technically brilliant Defy in the family of talented sporty icons.
The watch comes with a vertical-brushed finished triple link bracelet, and a complementary rubber strap, adding a handsome and suave demeanour to the sporty Defy.
