NEW: Panerai Luminor GMT Power Reserve Ceramica PAM01674

A bold statement in black

Debuting at Miami Design Week 2024, the Luminor GMT Power Reserve Ceramica PAM01674 takes the iconic Luminor collection, one of Panerai’s most recognisable, and reimagines it with a refined, minimalist approach.

The case and bracelet are both crafted from the same high-tech ceramic material, giving the watch a striking mono-material look. But don’t be fooled by the smooth, sleek surface—this ceramic is no soft touch.

Made from high-tech Zirconium Oxide powder (ZrO2), it’s five times harder than steel, resistant to scratches, corrosion, and extreme temperatures. Panerai’s complex manufacturing process, which includes injection moulding, diamond-shaping, and sandblasting, ensures this timepiece is built to last.

Inside the 44mm case, the PAM01674 is powered by the automatic P.9012 calibre, offering not just timekeeping, but a host of practical functions for the modern explorer.

You’ll find the central hour, GMT, and minute hands, a small seconds dial at nine o’clock, a power reserve indicator at five o’clock, and a handy date window at three o’clock. The GMT function is a particularly nice touch, letting you track a second time zone with ease.

Speaking of the power reserve, the PAM01674 packs an impressive three-day reserve, thanks to its dual-spring barrel setup. It’s all backed by 231 components, including 31 jewels, and runs at a frequency of 4 Hz.

The dial is where Panerai’s heritage really shines through. With indices and hands treated in grey Super-LumiNova X1, a matte black surface guarantees easy readability even in low-light situations. The GMT hand is a striking contrast, glowing a vivid blue to mark the second-time zone. It’s a subtle but stylish nod to the brand’s naval roots. The watch’s water resistance, rated at 10 BAR (about 100m), further highlights its rugged design, having been tested well beyond its rated value to meet Panerai’s rigorous standards.

As for the bracelet, it’s a fresh take on Panerai’s early 2000s designs and integrates seamlessly with the ceramic case for a clean, linear look that enhances the watch’s overall modern appeal.
