NEW: Hublot Arsham Droplet
One body with three personalities
Art of Fusion has never been so clearly defined by Hublot, until now. One could say they are pushing boundaries and beyond the definition of being a norm in the world of horology, then they collaborated with the renowned contemporary artist David Arsham. The collaboration resulted in the Hublot Arsham Droplet, a timepiece like no other, but then what do you expect when it is conceptualised by an artist?
The Arsham Droplet’s aesthetics is not an easy piece to describe in words. It is shaped in a rather organic form, but at the same time, it is not symmetric. If one has to describe it, it would be, like the namesake, a droplet of fluid with an arched body determined by gravity. It has a large round end which houses the skeletal dial with green accents displaying the hours and minutes hands, a small seconds sub-dial at nine o’clock. The hours’ chapter ring sits around the flange and the rest of the grey PVD-coated components are laid bare to the eyes. The rest of the integrated body is shaped like a curved handle accented with round holes of various sizes, which act as a finger grip. To help you secure your hold, the side of the case is encircled by a green rubber band.
The timepiece has trio purposes, it is a pocket watch, a pendant and also a table clock. As a pocket watch, it has a long One-click chain attached to it with round graduating pebbles of various sizes with links stringing them into a chain, and a shorter One-click chain long enough to wear, it can also be worn as a pendant. Finally, when the chain is removed, it can be rested on a mineral glass table stand and functions as a table clock that looks like a work of sculptural art as well.
The watch is powered by the iconic hand-wound Calibre Meca-10 manufacture movement with 10 days (240 hours) of power reserve. The extraordinary watch is housed in an even more extraordinarily sculpted titanium body with a green rubber strip around the side of the organic-shaped case. This watch has pushed the aesthetics boundary, and one that truly defines the artistic side of Hublot’s Art of Fusion and its independent spirit in watchmaking, and a piece of art in itself. The Wonder is limited to 99 pieces worldwide.
