Sound and sight of beauty this Summer
Just a week ago, at the height of the Summer, another important watch fair kicked off in Geneva, the Geneva Watch Days 2024. It may be smaller than the one in the Spring, but it is no less important, as it features more novelties from the brands, which some have exhibited in Spring, and some have made this round their main. Bulgari, is one such exhibitor who chose to participate at the Geneva Watch Days, and we are all delighted for them as they have unveiled some beautiful new timepieces. Let’s delve into the BVLGARI Aluminium and the Bulgari Serpentis.
BVLGARI Aluminium GMT x Fender Limited Edition
Fender, if you are a music lover and a rock musician at heart, who used to strum in a band while at university, then it is not a name that needs introduction. But if you do not, then here is a brief intro, Fender is an iconic acoustic and musical instrument manufacturer founded in 1948, they make beautifully mellowed analogue guitars, electric guitars, amplifiers and public address equipment; basically, they make what a performer needs on stage for their performance, barred loudspeakers. You have probably heard them amplified a the concerts you have attended. To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of one of their iconic electric guitars, Stratocaster this 2024, Bulgari has collaborated with Fender and created a timepiece that not only a modern icon from Bulgari themselves but it’s aesthetic is also inspired by guitar.
The Aluminium GMT x Fender is a warm friendly sight, as it embraces the livery of the Stratocaster, with the ambre rich dark to lighter brown tone of the wood panels that are crafted from, and then embellished with creamy white panel and pipings to give that iconic two tones effect we are all so used to seeing electronic guitars at rock concerts even to these days. The graduation brown dial sets the aesthetic off and it’s decorated with rhodium-plated hours, Arabic numerals and minutes indexes, and SuperLuminova coated hours, minutes and seconds hands, the 24-hour GMT indicator is in gold with a SuperLuminova-filled arrow pointer. Encircling the dial is the 24 hours chapter ring, with 18 to 6 in dark brown indicating the night, and 6 to 18 in light brown indicating the day. The dial is framed with an aluminium ring and a brown rubber bezel encircling it. They sit on a 40mm aluminium case with a black DLC-coated titanium caseback, and within the belly of the case lies the mechanical heart Calibre B192 with an automatic winding system with 42 hours of power reserve. The watch comes with a dark brown rubber bracelet with aluminium links.
Serpenti Pallini
The Serpenti has been charming women since 1948, and there have been hundreds, if not thousands of iterations on the serpentine beauty. And this time we see another completely different interpretation and it’s equally seductive, the Serpenti Pallini. Pallini, in Italian, means small round beads, and looking at the aesthetics they look just that, only preciously of course, no doubt a creation derived from the artistic brain of Bulgari’s Executive Director of Product Creation, Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, who was inspired by the first Pallini created in 1955. The new Serpenti Pallini has a double-coil bracelet and it comes in three different variants, white gold with diamonds, white gold with diamonds and rose gold beads, and white gold with yellow gold beads.
For the Serpenti Pallini in white gold and diamonds, the head is paved with brilliant diamonds with emerald eyes, and the body is encrusted with brilliant diamonds set on a mesh which allows flexibility around the double-coil body to resemble the scales on the serpent. Then there is the variant with a body set with diamonds alternating with rose gold beads on a rose gold bracelet variation The yellow gold variant has yellow gold beads strung on the yellow gold double-coiled bracelet. Their head lifted to reveal the diamond-paved dial with green hours and minutes hands, complementing the emerald eyes, and beneath the dial is the all-new manufacture miniature mechanical hand-wound movement Piccolissimo BVL100 with 30 hours power reserve, and it is currently the smallest movement you can find on the market.
Two different offerings for individuals, one for the person with a bold and adventurous persona and another for a glamorous soul who loves being pampered by sumptuous allure. They may differ entirely, and not everything has to be a match. What they are, are fine examples of the mastery of Bulgari in purveying what we covet in every aspect of his or her watches and jewellery.
