Zenith Pilot Type 20 Extra Special Cohiba Maduro 5 Edition: Malaysia Price & Review
Another smoking drop from Zenith and Cohiba.

Although this special edition collection is created to commemorate Zenith’s partnership with high-end cigar maker Cohiba, one doesn’t have to be a smoker to appreciate the sexy sepia-hued timepieces.
Hailing from the Pilot Type 20 collection, a range that was launched in 2017 and distinguished by its vintage styling that recalls WWII pilot’s watches, the Pilot Type 20 Extra Special Cohiba Maduro comes in two versions: rose gold with regular time display (below), which is limited to 50 pieces; and a bronze chronograph, which is capped at 150 pieces. Both come in 45mm cases.

The choice of metals is spot on. Despite the Pilot Type 20’s rugged design DNA, the polished rose gold case is ideal for the time-only dial, lending the watch a touch of elegance and sophistication. The bronze case (below), on the other hand, provides the perfect foil for the chronograph’s innate sportiness with patina that changes over time.

Elsewhere, design features that contributed to the Pilot Type 20’s popularity continue to define the limited editions, such as the bevelled rim, integrated sloping lugs, and iconic fluted onion-shaped crown. Likewise, the dial design remains unchanged, except for the inclusion of the Cohiba logo underneath Zenith’s at 12 o’clock. The watch’s limited edition number, the words ‘Cohiba Maduro 5’ and an image of the cigar-maker’s factory are engraved on a titanium caseback as a final stamp of collectability.
