Strength in a small package.

For decades now, Rolex has built a name for itself on the production of precise, robust and near indestructible icons. Able to survive nearly any severe condition known to man, whether the deep blue sea, frigid polar poles or extreme altitudes, each Rolex timepiece holds its own with strength and class.

Despite many brands adopting their familiar shapes and designs, Rolex still manages to stand out amongst the rest. Be it their iconic Sea-Dweller, Yacht-Master or Datejust, each timepiece is unapologetic in its classic aesthetics as the brand continues to improve its products.

Introduced as a part of a wider Datejust family back in the 1950s, the Lady-Datejust offers its big brother’s iconic style and function in a smaller package better suited to daintier wrists. Last year’s Lady-Datejust 28 encapsulates this ethos further with its 28mm Oyster case, which guarantees up to 100 metres of water resistance in pure elegance. Crafted out of a solid block of 904L steel, the case also features a smooth bezel that further accentuates the feminine and slick appeal of the watch.

The pale translucent pink dial with sunray finish, appliqué steel Roman numerals and hands provides an interesting contrast that offers visibility without sacrificing style. Standard to all Datejusts, the Cyclops date window adds a nice functional touch to the watch.

Powering the watch is the Calibre 2236, a new in-house designed automatic mechanical movement that’s fitted with a Rolex patented Syloxi hairspring made from silicon and able to withstand temperature fluctuations 10 times better than a normal hairspring. Offering up to 55 hours of power reserve, the movement is also a Superlative Chronometer, a standard redefined by Rolex in 2015 with much higher standards compared to the industry standards set by the COSC.

Far exceeding any watchmaking norms with its extreme precision, intrepid styling and aesthetics, especially for a lady’s watch, the Lady-Datejust 28 truly packs a punch despite its size. It’s no wonder why the watch remains a firm favourite for the ladies.
