Patek Philippe 5205G Annual Calendar Moon Phase: Malaysia Price and Review

Patek Philippe keeps it cool with a touch of the blues.

Making its first appearance in 2010, the Patek Philippe 5205G Annual Calendar has emerged to become one of the brand’s most recognisable pieces. The range has since expanded to include permutations in pink gold as well as dials in two-tone grey and black colour schemes.

This year, the 179-year old luxury Swiss watchmaker refreshes the watch with a 40mm white gold case and brilliant sunburst dial with blue gradation, which gives the watch its appeal. Dauphine hands, white gold applied markers and dotted minute indexes contribute to its classical allure.

Three windows for the day, date and month appear in an arc at the top of the dial, while a moonphase display sits at six o’clock. A smooth, concave bezel and curved skeletonised lugs (above) offer an elegant touch and allow the watch to hug the wrist comfortably. Completing the look is a hand-stitched black alligator leather strap with an 18K white gold buckle that keeps the vibe classy.

While the dial layout is relatively simple, the movement inside is anything but. The self-winding Calibre 324 S QA LU 24H/206 beats inside at 28,800vph and features the patented Gyromax balance as well as Spiromax balance spring. 356 components make up this complex heart which is finished with a 21K yellow gold rotor (below) engraved with Patek Philippe’s signature Calatrava cross.

Whether or not you’re a Patek Philippe aficionado, it’s hard not to love this watch. Its stylish and contemporary design makes it perfect for all occasions and a fairly neutral case size means ladies who like their watches bigger can rock this just as well. While the price tag might be on the high side for younger watch collectors, the new Patek Philippe 5205G Annual Calendar is definitely a piece you want in your collection someday.
