Omega Constellation Gents Collection: Malaysia Price And Review
Variety is the spice of life at Omega.

Omega has given its big tent-pole range, the Constellation, a makeover for 2020. The result is 26 new models for men, all sized at 39mm—considered the ideal measurement for most wrists—in a variety of case materials and dial colours.
But before going into a general breakdown of what this means, let’s start with the two most significant upgrades. The first involves the Constellation’s engine: Every new model runs on a METAS-approved Omega Master Chronometer-certified movement, with automatic winding, a Co-Axial escapement, magnetic resistance to 15,000 gauss, a silicon balance spring and a power reserve of 55 hours. Its rhodium-plated finish with Geneva waves in arabesque are visible through the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal caseback.

The second sees Omega raising the stakes in terms of the Constellation’s appearance. Models are now crafted from 18K Sedna gold, 18K yellow gold and stainless steel, in either monotone or two-tone configurations. Also new is a wide selection of dial colours and patterns, ranging from classic black, silver, blue, white and brown to mottled blue, gold and grey, with accents that are gold, blued blackened or diamond-studded.

As for the Constellation traits that fans have come to know and love so well—such as the barrel-shaped case with its iconic four ‘claws’, half-moon facets, mono-link bracelet and indexes on the bezel—fret not; they’re still there, only tweaked ever so slightly.

In fact, the changes are so subtle, they’re almost imperceptible. But you soon realise the bezel is slimmer and flatter, while its Roman numerals and ‘claws’ are more streamlined and elegant. For contrast, the edges of the case with its conical crown, ‘claws’ and bracelet are polished and bevelled. The dial has redesigned hands and hour markers, said to be inspired by the architecture of New York’s Freedom Tower. Additionally, the mono-link metal bracelet gets new mid-bar links and a comfort-release function. But if colourful leather straps are your thing, you’re covered too, with grey, brown, blue and green options.

From the moment it was launched in 1952, versatility has been the Constellation collection’s greatest strength. The latest revamp bolsters this approach by generating a multitude of variations matched with an equally wide range of prices. So, whether you’re a seasoned professional or just starting out, this Omega stalwart promises to be right by your side whatever stage of life you’re at.
