NEW: Behrens B020 “Apolar”

Time-telling redefined through artistic expression and horological innovation

Behrens defies tradition and embraces creativity to present time in new and unconventional ways. With a keen eye on the design and development of modified movements, pieces from this independent brand are both visually arresting and technically accomplished.

The B020 “APOLAR” is a particularly fine example of the Behrens philosophy. This mechanical wristwatch, featuring a Swiss made ‘ETA’ Cal.2824 automatic movement as its base, showcases a novel concept inspired by the celestial relationship between the Earth and the Moon.

Taking pride of place at 12 o’clock on the blue dial of the 42mm stainless-steel case is a dome-shaped globe representing the Earth. It rotates once every 24 hours, thereby acting as a unique 24-hour indicator.

Circling the Earth is a smaller globe representing the Moon that is attached to a sloped rotating metal ring held and turned by three gears—even more striking when both glow blue in the dark. Naturally, this display takes 28 days to complete one cycle.

The time in hours and minutes is read via two decentralised metal discs located at seven o’clock and five o’clock respectively, while seconds is indicated by a two-pointer hand at the centre of the dial.

If a non-traditional approach to displaying time is what you’re after, look no further than the captivating B020 “APOLAR”. It certainly ticks all the boxes in this department and then some. But don’t just take our word for it, check it out for yourself at Red Army Watches Pavilion KL and 1Utama.
