Montblanc Heritage Monopusher Chronograph: Malaysia Price And Review

Montblanc hits another monopusher homerun.

Montblanc Heritage Monopusher Chronograph

Even though double-pusher chronographs are the more common variant now, there was a time when monopushers were ubiquitous. One of the earliest iterations of a wrist chronograph was a system borrowed from a stopwatch.

While Montblanc debuted its 1858 Monopusher Chronograph last year, that model had a pusher at two o’clock, in addition to the crown. This year, the new Heritage Monopusher Chronograph integrates all the chronograph functions within the crown itself. One can only imagine how complex the mechanism has to be (not to mention expensive) for that to happen. Fortunately, Montblanc’s Heritage Monopusher comes in at a reasonable RM21,200, which isn’t too eye-watering, considering the work that goes into it.

The automatic movement within is entirely developed and engineered by Minerva—a fact that is reinforced by an engraving of the Minerva manufacture and crest on the caseback.

Aesthetically, the watch keeps to the spirit of Minerva with its retro dial in a domed silvery execution. Like the rest of the watches in the Heritage collection, this piece features a vintage Montblanc logo as a nod to its forebears.

Thanks to classic elements like a sleek stainless steel case and its simplicity in design and details, the watch manages to look contemporary while exuding a timeless charm. The two-tone dial is adorned with anthracite hour markers and Arabic numerals. Matching Dauphine hands are coated with Super-LumiNova while the central chronograph hand, 60-second and 30-minute totaliser hands are in blue.

Although a chronograph is technically a sports watch, this has to be one of the dressiest versions we’ve ever seen. Sure, you could use it to time sporting events and all, but we think it would be just as appropriate at a formal dinner.
