Cartier Panthère de Cartier: Malaysia Price And Review
Fall in love with a Cartier classic all over again.

The Panthère de Cartier watch range had a few false starts until its reintroduction two years ago. Named after Jeanne ‘La Panthère’ Toussaint, Cartier’s legendary artistic director of high jewellery from 1933 to 1970, it simmered but never truly burned after its debut in 1983, fading away in the early 2000s.
Generally speaking, the overall design of the relaunched Panthère de Cartier range doesn’t stray from the original. All the familiar details are there: from the square case with screws on the bezel to the silvered dial decorated with Roman numerals, blued-steel sword-shaped hands, railway track index and tiny Cartier logo embossed in the ‘X’ digit. Naturally, the iconic crown with a blue spinel is not forgotten. The use of a quartz movement has been retained as well.

But what makes the Panthère de Cartier range so different now is the fact it has become “an ever-evolving idea” for the Maison. In essence, we can expect to see creative interpretations of its basic architecture in the future so long as the original DNA is respected. This is evident from the Manchette and Mini models—both launched in 2019—that, while diametrically opposed in terms of size and aesthetics, clearly belong to the same family.
This year also saw the introduction of the Panthère de Cartier Small model. With a dimension of 22mm x 30mm, it should appeal to those who never took to the chunky watch trend or love stacking bracelets. It comes in pink, yellow and white gold—some adorned with diamonds. In addition, a two-tone steel and yellow gold model is available. Three models have a matching double loop five-link bracelet. All variations use a quartz movement.

Much like its namesake big cat, the Panthère de Cartier range is classy, charismatic and chic. From its more affordable steel pieces to fully embellished gem-fitted ones, there’s a timepiece for every taste, preference and budget. If you feel spoilt for choice, however, and don’t know where to start, you can’t go wrong with the almost monotone stainless steel case and bracelet that pays tribute to its predecessor from the 1980s, only made better and more refined.
