NEW: Ulysse Nardin Blast [Sparkling Rainbow]

There are rainbow watches—and then there’s this rainbow watch

Ulysse Nardin has taken its stealthy, skeletonised icon, the Blast, and set it on fire—figuratively—with the Sparkling Rainbow, a wildly vivid limited edition that’s equal parts technical tour de force and high jewellery statement.

If you’re a collector with a taste for the bold, you’ll want to pay attention. Let’s start with the obvious: 211 invisibly set sapphires, totalling 13.33 carats, are hand-fitted across the white gold case, bezel, crown, clasp and even the open-worked dial.

Each stone was cut with such care—85 unique cuts in total—that they appear to float. That’s thanks to the elusive “mystery setting” technique, a rare métier d’art where stones are mounted without visible metal, allowing light to flood in and bounce out in brilliant colour.

The gradient flows seamlessly, but achieving that perfect spectrum? Four painstaking weeks of stone selection, matching, cutting and setting. The result is a watch that doesn’t just sparkle; it radiates.

Underneath the glitter is still very much a beast.

The 45mm case houses Ulysse Nardin’s in-house UN-172 skeleton movement, which features a flying tourbillon at six o’clock and a platinum micro-rotor at 12.

The silicon escapement and hairspring are nods to the manufacture’s pioneering work with the material since 2001’s Freak.

The Blast [Sparkling Rainbow] gives you a solid 72-hour power reserve—because form without function just isn’t how Ulysse Nardin rolls.

While the original Blast was already known for its stealth-fighter design and mechanical muscle, this iteration catapults the model into another realm altogether, where high-end engineering meets the opulence of jewellery craft.

For the serious collector, the Blast [Sparkling Rainbow] is more than a showpiece. It’s a manifesto. One that declares: yes, we can push horology further—and do it with style. Only eight will exist, making this a grail for anyone who appreciates both the art and science of watchmaking.
