NEW: Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph

High octane on the wrist—a machine that shifts from motorsport grit to haute horlogerie polish without missing a gear

Chronographs have never been a side note in the brand’s story. Roger Dubuis himself cut his teeth on chronograph movements for nearly a decade before founding his namesake Maison in 1995.

Naturally, the complication featured in his earliest creations. Three decades on, the Excalibur Spider Flyback represents the fifth generation of Dubuis chronographs, powered by the in-house RD780 calibre.

This integrated movement is designed for both mechanics and spectacle. The stainless steel column wheel sits proudly at six o’clock—a hallmark of haute horlogerie, valued not only for its role in controlling start, stop and reset functions, but also for the tactile fluidity it lends to the pushers.

Unusually, it’s finished with a rare poli zinc technique, giving it a high-shine edge typically reserved for unconventional parts. A vertical clutch ensures precision, echoing the gearbox systems of racing machines.

Two patents push the calibre further. The Rotating Minute Counter at three o’clock delivers a dynamic show with its triple-hand display, while the Second Braking System stabilises the chronograph seconds hand for smooth readability.

At nine o’clock, the brand’s signature tilted balance wheel takes centre stage, angled at 12° for visibility and enhanced performance. Its diamond-coated silicon escapement brings anti-magnetic assurance and lasting accuracy.

The 45mm skeletonised pink gold case balances warm tones with a black rubber strap and quick-release system, while the rotor on the caseback echoes the rims of a supercar, tying the watch firmly to its motorsport DNA.

Limited to just 88 pieces—a nod to Mr Dubuis’ lucky number—the Excalibur Spider Flyback offers 72 hours of power reserve and carries the Poinçon de Genève, with 333 components finished to the highest standards.
