An unusually assured purple dial gives one of modern watchmaking’s most restrained sports watches a sharper, more expressive edge
Parmigiani Fleurier’s Tonda PF has always operated at a discreet frequency. Its integrated-bracelet architecture, slim profile and minimal dial furniture are recognisably luxurious, but never especially loud. The new Soft Violet SHH Edition alters that balance without upsetting it.
Created with Sincere Fine Watches and limited to 50 pieces, the watch places a vivid violet dial inside the familiar 36mm stainless-steel case. The colour has previously appeared on the Toric Petite Seconde SHH Taiwan Edition, but feels rather different here: less classical, more contemporary and arguably better suited to the Tonda PF’s taut, urbane design.
The dial is finished with Parmigiani Fleurier’s signature Grain d’Orge hand-guilloché. That texture matters. Rather than presenting as a flat block of purple, the surface shifts between violet, lavender and cooler blue tones as the light changes. Applied rhodium-plated 18K gold indices and skeletonised delta hands keep the display clean, with no date window to interrupt the effect.
At 36mm across and 8.6mm thick, this remains an unusually compact proposition in the integrated-bracelet category. The steel case combines polished and satin-brushed surfaces, while the hand-knurled bezel is made from platinum 950—a sophisticated but materially extravagant detail. Water resistance is rated to 100m, so the refinement is not merely cosmetic.
Inside is the automatic PF770, a 3.9mm-thick manufacture calibre developed for the 36mm case. It runs at 4Hz, stores 60 hours of power and comprises 179 components. Through the sapphire caseback, owners can inspect the Côtes de Genève, bevelled bridges and skeletonised 22K rose-gold rotor—finishing that gives the watch mechanical substance beyond the dial-led appeal.
