NEW: Arnold & Son Luna Magna Red Gold Meteorite

This 38-piece release evoking the sky, fire, and the stars leaves us moonstruck

The Luna Magna Red Gold Meteorite looks to the skies for inspiration, as evidenced by its three-dimensional moonphase complication, blue PVD-treated meteorite dial and 44mm red-gold case.

The main dial is made from a large disc of ferrous meteorite coloured blue using the PVD process, while the subdial displaying the hours and minutes is constructed from semi-precious opal, giving it a milky, almost lunar sheen.

The enigmatic quality of this piece is enhanced by the meteorite’s criss-crossing, jagged geometric structures, also known as Widmanstätten patterns, and the moon composed of Cacholong opal and blue PVD meteorite.

These varied textures catch the light as the warm glow of the red gold case tempers the otherwise cool disposition of the midnight-blue dial. Once night falls, another side of the watch is revealed, as the opal half of the moon and the subdial are coated with Super-LumiNova that glows blue-green in the dark.

The Luna Magna Red Gold Meteorite is driven by the A&S1021 calibre—developed, machined, assembled, and adjusted at the Arnold & Son Manufacture. It is designed with the lunar globe in mind, and is equipped with a 90-hour power reserve and a regulating organ oscillating at a frequency of 3 Hz. The hand-wound movement also features a secondary display detailing the age of the moon on the caseback, with clear markings for high-precision lunar adjustments.

The duration of a complete lunar cycle is 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, and 2.8 seconds. In a true demonstration of its watchmaking prowess, Arnold & Son has managed to replicate this so accurately here that it will take 122 years for the movement’s display to deviate from the correct celestial reading by one day. If that doesn’t impress, frankly, we don’t know what will!
