INTRODUCING: Delma Blue Shark IV

The Swiss adventure brand’s ultimate deep diver thrives under pressure

Delma’s commitment to water sports began in 1969 with the launch of its first divers’ watch, the Periscope. By 1975, the independent, family-owned Swiss watch brand, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, had earned its stripes with its first professional divers’ watch, the Shell Star.

But the real game-changer for Delma in terms of its performance instrument offerings was the Blue Shark, which has seen it push contemporary boundaries of strength with each iteration. First launched in 2011, with water resistance to 3,000m, subsequent releases have similarly proved their mettle, with the occasional philanthropic bent.

The Blue Shark II introduced subtle refinements with a focus on strength, while the Blue Shark III Azores directly supported research initiatives in its namesake archipelago that contribute to conservation of endangered sharks.

The newest member of the family, the Blue Shark IV, surpasses its storied predecessors with an unimaginable water resistance to 5,000m. This heightened standard of toughness is made possible by subtle enhancements to an already exceptional design that ensures reliability in all conditions.

The 47mm case in solid, stainless steel is built for strength and security. For example, the helium escape valve at nine o’clock and screw-down crown ensure ultimate water tightness. Meanwhile, the unidirectional, easy-to-grip black DLC-coated bezel is refined to complement the new 20mm case height. Bold numerals, indexes and hands are accentuated with Super-LumiNova for clear legibility in the inky depths of the sea.

The Blue Shark IV is equipped with a SW200-1 automatic movement with 38 hours of power reserve, making it the ideal companion for recreational pursuits both above and below the surface of the water. Hence, custom security screws and bespoke tools enable easy adjustment of the interchangeable solid stainless-steel bracelet and rubber strap depending on the occasion. Offered in the collection’s signature blue, black and orange dials, each variation is limited to 999 pieces.
