Luminox Navy SEAL 3501.BO: Malaysia Price and Review

Giving new meaning to ‘going commando’.

Luminox honours the legacy of the elite US Navy Seals team with their latest offering, the Luminox Navy SEAL 3500 series. No surprise there as the brand has always enjoyed close ties with military groups such as the US Coast Guard, Air Force, Special Forces, EMS teams around the world and of course, the Navy Seals, who first asked Luminox to develop a watch for them in 1993.


In a nod to their history with these maritime commandos, the Navy SEAL 3500 Series is developed with the toughness and adaptability of these Special Forces in mind. The watch doesn’t just look the part. Tested and pushed to the extremes, the Luminox Navy SEAL 3500 series is designed to take a beating anytime, whether day or night.


As with all Luminox watches, a unique feature the iconic light technology (above) which uses tiny tritium gas tubes that provide illumination for up to 25 years, as opposed to phosphorescent markers used in other watches, which must be charged by a light source.

The Navy SEAL 3500 series comes in seven colour options from stealth blackout to the bright yellow that divers seem to prefer. Our favourite would be the Navy SEAL 3501.BO that comes in a blacked-out dial, case and black uni-directional rotating bezel. Made of Carbon Compound, the result is an attractive, cool, light and durable timepiece that even Batman would envy.

 

The 3501.BO (featuring white hour markings) and 3502.BO are the only two models that employ an exclusive Luminox Carbon Compound solid link bracelet (above) with stainless steel buckle, whilst the remaining five models—including our favourite—features a newly designed signature PU strap. Other features include scratch-resistant crystal, tempered mineral glass and a double gasket stainless steel crown which enables water resistance to 200m.

Additionally, you’ll find the Luminox logo nicely engraved on the crown and a stainless steel screw down caseback with a 3-D Navy SEAL logo (above). Measuring 45mm in size, the Navy SEAL 3500 may put off wearers with slightly smaller wrists but if you’re the rugged sort who enjoys outdoor adventures, the tough militaristic look of the watch will appeal to you.
