Holding down a full-time job and simultaneously running several businesses dealing in products that span skincare to fintech, Ellis Teh is one go-getter. The 34-year-old attributes her drive to the challenging experiences she endured as a kid.

“I don’t boast an affluent background, and I had to go through a lot of tough times. I fought hard, not only at work, but also to break out of the defeatist mentality of being poor,” she says, adding that each timepiece from her collection represents a challenge conquered.

“I made a promise to myself that when I earned my first six-figure salary, this would be the watch I would rewarded myself with. It reminds me of the sweet satisfaction of knowing that I earned it, and that I rose above all the times people turned me down and laughed at me.”

“When I wanted to buy this, everyone called me crazy. They said that I could get a small car instead but I ignored all the naysayers because I love this watch, and I worked hard for it!”

“This limited-edition watch represents the beginning of my journey. I was hesitating on making the purchase but I told myself that I could do it and I never looked back.”

“I love this watch! It’s got a dual face and one side of the strap is leather while the other is rubber. A friend who gave me a life-changing advice on time management gave this to me as a present. Every time I wear it, it reminds me of our friendship.”

“I had another friend whom I shared a lot of tough times with. When he also pulled out of the tough times, he bought me this and it touches my heart every time I wear it. It’s a reminder of our friendship how we made it, together.”
