VIDEO: Five Things About Chopard's Happy Sport
All you need to know about Chopard's most famous ladies' watch.
In this quick primer from Crown Watch Blog, Melissa walks us through the Chopard Happy Sport—a versatile and iconic ladies' watch collection that has redefined elegance and playfulness since its creation.
The Origins of Happiness
The Happy Sport traces its roots to the Happy Diamonds collection, which debuted in 1976. This groundbreaking line was the first to feature free-spirited diamonds sliding across the surface of watches and jewelry, encased between two sapphire crystal layers. Inspired by this innovation, Caroline Scheufele, Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director, introduced the Happy Sport in 1993. It revolutionized women’s watches by combining the elegance of dancing diamonds with the practicality of stainless steel.
A Watch for Every Occasion
Caroline designed the Happy Sport as an all-day companion—perfect for the gym, office, or evening dinner. Over time, the collection expanded to include a wide array of styles, materials, and gemstones. Beyond diamonds, Happy Sport models now feature sapphires, rubies, emeralds, and whimsical designs like the Happy Fish and Happy Heart collections, showcasing both creativity and charm.
The Happy Sport “The First”
To celebrate its legacy, Chopard introduces two limited edition models aptly named Happy Sport "The First." These watches pay homage to the original icon and feature supple bracelets with four rows of polished pebble links. Both models are powered by Chopard’s in-house Calibre 09.01-C, a mechanical self-winding movement.
