An icon revisited.

While it is now synonymous with the brand, the Panthère made its debut as a design motif and aesthetic inspiration in Cartier’s jewellery and accessories collections, created by Jeanne Toussaint, the brand’s creative director and also a key collaborator of the Art Deco movement.

In 1914 she eventually introduced the cat to the wristwatch collection and it is now a firm fixture in many of Cartier’s timepieces, especially within the métiers d’art and haute horlogerie collections.

Last year, the Panthère was given a special status and inducted into Cartier’s Hall of Fame, receiving its very own watch collection—the Panthère de Cartier.

The design aesthetics of this collection follows closely that of the Santos de Cartier. The square face of the watch is framed with a slim bezel riveted onto a square case with rounded edges and fluidly integrated lugs. The dial is also decorated with large and now iconic Roman numerals with a snail minute track in the centre. In true Cartier fashion, the sword-shaped hour and minute hands come in blued steel.

To add a feminine flair, the Panthère de Cartier comes with a long and slim multi-link bracelet that wraps around your wrist in a sensual embrace. The small models come in a double loop while the mini version has a triple loop. If you prefer a larger model, there’s the medium option as well.

While the movement within is a Swiss quartz calibre, there are plenty of options when it comes to aesthetics. Available in a variety of materials from yellow, pink or white gold to steel, there are also bejewelled versions for added sparkle.
